FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything we're asked about booking a fixed-price taxi from Oxford to Heathrow — pricing, luggage, flight changes, and coverage area.
How much does a taxi from Oxford to Heathrow cost?
£95 for the whole car, fixed, from Oxford city centre to any Heathrow terminal — agreed before you travel and unaffected by traffic, waiting time, or which terminal you're flying from. Towns and suburbs further from Oxford carry a small, clearly stated distance surcharge; see our full price list for the exact fare to your address.
Is the price really fixed, even in bad traffic?
Yes. The price you're quoted covers your exact pickup address and terminal — it doesn't change if the M40 is slow, if you take a diversion, or if the journey runs longer than expected. The only thing that changes a fixed quote is booking a different address or terminal.
What happens if my departure time changes?
We track your outbound flight number. If the airline brings your departure forward or pushes it back, we adjust your Oxford pickup time to match, so you still reach the terminal in good time — at no extra charge.
Is the driver licensed and insured?
Yes. Every driver holds a licensed private hire driver badge and the vehicle is licensed and fully insured for hire and reward, in line with UK private hire regulations.
How much luggage can I bring?
Our estate car comfortably takes up to 4 passengers with 2 large suitcases and hand luggage — more boot space than a standard saloon, at the same fixed price. Let us know if you're travelling with extra bags, golf clubs, or a car seat when you book, so the right vehicle is sent.
Do you charge more for early morning or late-night pickups?
No. The fixed price you're quoted is the same whatever time your flight departs, including early-morning starts and late-night departures.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
Yes. You can amend the date, time, or address free of charge, and cancel free of charge up to 2 hours before pickup. Contact us as early as you can if your plans change.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, on request at no extra charge — let us know the number and ages of children travelling when you book so the right seats are in the car.
How do I pay?
By card online when you book, or by card or cash directly with the driver. There's no card surcharge either way — the fixed price is the fixed price.
Do you offer accounts for business or college bookings?
Yes. Oxford colleges, university departments, and local businesses can set up an account for regular Heathrow transfers with invoiced billing rather than paying per trip.
Is there a direct train from Oxford to Heathrow?
No. Every rail route from Oxford to Heathrow involves at least one change, usually at Reading or London Paddington.
How long does the train take from Oxford to Heathrow?
Typically 2 to 2.5 hours door to door once you include the connection, platform change, and walk to the airport terminal.
Is the train cheaper than a taxi for a family or group?
Not usually — rail fares are charged per passenger, so for two or more people the total often matches or exceeds our £95 fixed price for the whole car, without the interchange.
What is the Airline coach service?
The Airline is the Oxford Bus Company's direct coach route between Oxford and Heathrow, running up to every 20 minutes in the day, with fares from around £25 one way per adult.
Is the coach faster than a taxi?
Roughly similar for a direct trip — the coach takes about 80-90 minutes depending on your terminal, close to a taxi's typical 70-95 minutes — but a taxi collects from your exact address rather than a coach stop, and doesn't call at other terminals first.
Is the coach cheaper for a family or group?
Usually not — coach fares are charged per adult, so a family of four one way can cost more than our £95 fixed price for the whole car, once everyone's ticket is added up.
Why do taxi prices for the same route vary so much?
Mainly vehicle size, time-of-day surcharges, and whether Heathrow's terminal drop-off charge is already included in the advertised price or added on top.
Is a fixed price always cheaper than a metered taxi or ride-hailing app?
Not always cheaper up front, but it removes the risk — a metered fare or a surge-priced app quote can run higher than expected, while a fixed price can't move once it's agreed.
Is it cheaper to book for the whole car or per seat?
For one traveller, a per-seat option like the coach can be cheaper. For two or more people travelling together, our whole-car fixed price is usually the same or less per person, with door-to-door convenience included.
Can Uber prices change after booking for a long trip?
Yes — the final fare is calculated after the trip based on the actual time and route, and surge pricing can apply at busy times, so the estimate you see isn't a guarantee.
Is a pre-booked taxi more reliable than Uber for an early flight?
Generally yes, since a pre-booked taxi is confirmed in advance for a specific time and tracks your flight, rather than depending on driver availability nearby when you open the app.
Is Uber cheaper than a fixed-price taxi from Oxford to Heathrow?
Often similar under normal pricing, but Uber's estimate isn't locked in — surge pricing at busy times or on early-morning departures can push it above our flat £95, which never changes once booked.
How far is Oxford from Heathrow Airport?
Around 57 miles by road, mostly down the M40 and then the M25.
How long does it take to drive from Oxford to Heathrow?
Typically 70-95 minutes in normal traffic, closer to 2 hours during weekday peak periods.
Is the journey time the same for every terminal?
Almost — Terminal 4 usually adds 5-10 minutes over Terminals 2, 3, and 5, since it uses a separate access road on the airport's south side.
Is the M40 always the fastest route from Oxford to Heathrow?
Usually, yes — but the A34/M4 can be quicker from the south side of Oxford, or when there's a hold-up on the M40 or M25.
Does the route taken change the price?
No. The fixed price is set by your pickup address and terminal, not by which road the driver takes on the day.
Does the route change depending on which terminal I'm flying from?
Yes — Terminals 2 and 3 are reached via M25 Junction 15, while Terminals 4 and 5 use Junction 14, so the final few miles differ by terminal even though the M40 approach is the same.
Can I book a taxi from Oxford to Heathrow on the same day?
Often yes, subject to availability — but booking ahead is safer for early-morning departures and during school holidays.
Do you charge more for last-minute bookings?
No, the fixed price for your address and terminal is the same regardless of how far ahead you book.
What if my exact pickup time isn't confirmed yet because my flight isn't booked?
You can still reserve the date and an approximate time, then confirm the exact pickup once your flight is booked — just get in touch to update the details.
Do you collect from Oxford University colleges?
Yes, from any college — just tell us the college name and your room or staircase when you book.
Can multiple students share one taxi to save money?
Yes, the fixed price is per car, not per passenger, so sharing with coursemates travelling the same day and to the same terminal works out cheaper per person.
What if I have more luggage than a normal booking allows?
Tell us when you book — end-of-year moves often mean more than the standard 2 suitcases per passenger, and we'll send a larger vehicle for the same fixed-price principle.
Do you collect from porters' lodges?
Yes, we can collect from the porters' lodge or any specified entrance at your college.
Can a college book on behalf of a visiting fellow?
Yes, college offices can book directly and set up account billing for regular visitor transfers.
Does the price differ between central and north Oxford colleges?
Yes — the fixed price reflects your college's actual distance from the M40, so a central college and one further out in north Oxford won't necessarily cost the same, but both get a fixed price agreed before you travel.
Do you collect from Harcourt Hill as well as Headington?
Yes, we cover both Oxford Brookes campuses.
Is the price different from Harcourt Hill compared to Headington?
It can be slightly different, since Harcourt Hill sits a little further from the M40 — but it's still a fixed price agreed before you travel, not an on-the-day surcharge.
Can you collect for a study-abroad placement with extra luggage?
Yes — tell us when you book if you're travelling with more than the standard 2 suitcases per passenger, common for a semester-long placement, and we'll size the vehicle accordingly.
How do I set up a corporate account?
Contact us with your company details and typical travel needs, and we'll set up an account with invoiced billing.
Can different staff members book under one account?
Yes, any authorised staff member can book against the company account.
Can invoices be split by department or cost centre?
Yes — tell us how your finance team tracks travel spend when you set up the account, and we can format invoices to match.
Do you collect directly from office buildings on the Science Park?
Yes, we collect from any building address on Oxford Science Park or Oxford Business Park.
Can you collect a visitor from Heathrow arrivals and bring them to our offices?
Yes — give us the flight details and your building address, and we'll track the inbound flight and collect from arrivals for the drive to Cowley.
Can I book with only a few hours' notice for a same-day trip?
Where possible, yes — contact us as early as you can and we'll confirm availability; the fixed-price principle applies the same as for a pre-booked trip.
Is there an extra charge for a pickup before 6am?
No, the fixed price is the same at any time of day or night.
How early should I book for a 6am flight from Heathrow?
Book your taxi a few days ahead if you can, and plan for pickup around 3-3.5 hours before a short-haul departure.
Is the drive quicker at that time of day?
Usually, yes — traffic before 6am is lighter than at any other point in the day, so an early journey is often one of the most predictable times to travel.
Do you provide child seats for babies and toddlers?
Yes, on request at no extra charge — tell us the ages of the children travelling when you book.
What if our family has more than 2 suitcases?
Let us know your exact luggage count when you book and we'll arrange an estate or larger vehicle to fit it all.
Can you fit a pushchair or travel cot as well as our luggage?
Yes — mention it when you book alongside your suitcase count, and we'll size the vehicle to fit everything in one trip.
Does rush-hour traffic increase the price?
No — the fixed price is agreed at booking and doesn't change however long the journey takes on the day.
When is traffic worst between Oxford and Heathrow?
Weekday mornings (7-9am) and evenings (4-7pm), and Friday afternoons, are typically the busiest times on the M25 approach to the airport.
Will my pickup time change if I'm travelling during rush hour?
Yes — we build known peak-time delays into your pickup slot so you still arrive with a sensible margin, rather than leaving it to chance.
How many hours before my flight should I leave Oxford?
Around 3-3.5 hours for a short-haul flight, and closer to 4 hours for long-haul, adjusting for your airline's specific check-in cutoff.
Does the terminal affect how early I should leave?
Yes — Terminal 3's long-haul check-in can open earlier and take longer, and Terminal 4's drive is a little longer than the other terminals, so both are worth an extra margin.
Should I leave earlier if I'm travelling during rush hour?
Yes — build in extra time during the weekday morning (7-9am) or evening (4-7pm) peaks, when the M25 approach to Heathrow slows down most.
Can I get a receipt for expenses?
Yes, a receipt is provided for every journey, and account holders receive a consolidated monthly invoice.
What happens if my meeting runs over and I need to change my pickup time?
Let us know as soon as you can — we'll adjust the pickup time to match your new schedule without treating it as a new booking.
Is this suitable for a single occasional business trip, not just regular travel?
Yes — the fixed price and flight tracking apply the same whether it's a one-off trip or a company account with regular travellers.
Can you arrange more than one car for a large group?
Yes, we can coordinate multiple vehicles travelling to the same terminal at the same time.
Can our group be picked up from different addresses?
Yes — tell us each pickup address and we'll plan a route that collects everyone before heading to Heathrow, or arrange separate cars if that's more practical.
Is it cheaper to book one large vehicle than several smaller ones?
Usually, yes — since the price is per vehicle rather than per passenger, consolidating into fewer, larger cars is typically more cost-effective per person.
Can you fit golf clubs as well as normal luggage?
Yes, tell us when you book and we'll send a vehicle with enough boot space for golf bags alongside your suitcases.
Do you charge extra for bulky items like skis or a bike box?
No extra charge for the fixed price itself — we simply size the vehicle to fit everything, so it's worth telling us the details in advance rather than on the day.
What if I'm not sure whether my equipment will fit?
Tell us the item and rough size when you book — we'd rather confirm in advance than have you find out at pickup that a smaller car has been sent.
Can you carry a folding wheelchair?
In most cases yes — tell us the type and size when you book so we can confirm the right vehicle in advance.
Do I need to arrange anything separately for assistance at Heathrow itself?
Yes — airport and airline special assistance inside the terminal is arranged separately from your taxi, usually through your airline in advance of travel.
What if I'm not sure whether my mobility aid will fit?
Tell us the type and rough dimensions when you book — we'd rather confirm the right vehicle in advance than have an issue arise at pickup.
Do you charge extra for pets travelling in a carrier?
No, there's no extra charge — just let us know in advance so we can confirm space in the vehicle.
Do I need any special documents to fly with my pet from Heathrow?
Likely yes for international travel — current rules generally require an Animal Health Certificate from your vet rather than the old EU pet passport. Confirm the exact requirements for your destination well ahead of your flight.
Can more than one pet travel in the same booking?
Yes — tell us the number and size of carriers when you book so we can confirm there's enough space for all of them.
Is Cowley close to the M40?
Yes. Cowley sits on the eastern edge of Oxford, close to the London Road and the A40/M40 junction, so the run to Heathrow starts quickly without crossing the city centre.
Can you collect from Oxford Business Park?
Yes, we collect from any address on Oxford Business Park or Oxford Science Park, including for same-day business travel to Heathrow.
Do you collect from the John Radcliffe Hospital?
Yes, we collect from the John Radcliffe, the Churchill, and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, as well as any address in Headington.
Is Headington far from Oxford Brookes University?

Do you collect from near Oxford Parkway station?
Yes, Summertown is a short drive from Oxford Parkway, and we collect from addresses around the station as well as throughout Summertown itself.
Is Summertown further from Heathrow than central Oxford?
Only slightly — a few extra minutes getting onto the A40, since Summertown sits north of the city centre rather than on the direct M40 approach. The fixed price from Summertown is the same £95 as from central Oxford.
Do you collect from the Seacourt Park & Ride?
Yes, we collect from Seacourt Park & Ride and anywhere along the Botley Road.
Is Botley a long way from the M40?
It's a little further round than east Oxford, usually via the A34 or through the city, but the fixed £95 price accounts for that already.
Do you collect from London Oxford Airport?
Yes, if you're landing at London Oxford Airport and need to connect on to Heathrow, we collect directly from the terminal.
How far is Kidlington from central Oxford?
About 5 miles north — close enough that the fixed price to Heathrow is the same £95 as from Oxford city centre.
Do you collect from near the Kassam Stadium?
Yes, we collect from anywhere in Blackbird Leys, including addresses near the Kassam Stadium and Oxford Business Park.
Is Blackbird Leys close to the M40?
Yes — it's one of the closer Oxford suburbs to the M40 junction, so journey times to Heathrow are on the shorter side.
Is Iffley part of Oxford city?
Iffley is a historic village within the city of Oxford, on the southern ring road, a few minutes from the M40 approach.
Is Iffley more expensive than booking from central Oxford?

Do you collect from Old Marston village?
Yes, we collect from anywhere in Marston, including Old Marston village and the streets around Marston Ferry Road.
Is there a surcharge for booking from Marston?
No — Marston is close enough to central Oxford that the fixed price to Heathrow is the standard £95, the same as from the city centre.
Is Jericho within walking distance of Oxford city centre?
Yes, Jericho is right next to the city centre — pickup times are the same as for central Oxford addresses.
Do you collect from near Oxford railway station?
Yes — Jericho is a short walk from Oxford railway station, so we collect just as easily from addresses near the station as from anywhere else in Jericho.
Is Abingdon closer to Heathrow than Oxford?
Slightly — Abingdon sits a little further south, giving a shorter run down the A34 towards the M4 or M40.
Do you cover the whole of Abingdon?
Yes, we collect from anywhere in Abingdon, including the town centre and the surrounding estates.
Do you collect from Witney town centre?
Yes, we collect from anywhere in Witney, including the market square and the surrounding villages.
Is there a train station in Witney?
No — Witney's railway station closed to passengers in 1962 and there's currently no passenger rail service to the town, so a taxi or bus is the only direct option. A fixed-price taxi goes door to door to Heathrow without a change of transport.
Do you collect from Didcot Parkway station?
Yes, we collect from Didcot Parkway and anywhere in the surrounding town.
Is Didcot the fastest route to Heathrow from this area?
It's one of the shorter journeys on our coverage map, since Didcot connects quickly onto the M4 towards Heathrow.
Is Banbury too far for a fixed-price taxi to Heathrow?
No — the fixed price simply reflects the longer distance. Banbury sits right on the M40, so the route is straightforward even though it's the furthest town we cover.
Do you collect from Banbury railway station?
Yes, we collect from Banbury station as well as anywhere in the town — useful if you're arriving into Banbury by train before continuing on to Heathrow by taxi.
Do you collect from Blenheim Palace?
Yes, we collect from Blenheim Palace itself as well as anywhere in Woodstock.
How does Woodstock connect to the M40?
Via the A44 and A40 through or around Oxford — Woodstock doesn't sit directly on the motorway corridor, which adds a little to the journey compared with locations closer to the M40. The fixed £100 price already accounts for this.
Do you collect from Wallingford town centre?
Yes, we collect from anywhere in Wallingford and the surrounding villages along the Thames.
Is there a train station in Wallingford?
No — Wallingford's own station closed to passengers in 1959, and the nearest mainline station today is a few miles away at Cholsey. A door-to-door taxi avoids that extra leg entirely.
